It’s easy to let others decide how you should feel about yourself. People are always willing to critique what you are wearing, how you are performing, or any major decision you have made. It is easy to let this become your reality and to be burdened, even broken by others’ thoughts.

But you are more than what others around you might see. When you struggle, when you fail, you are full of strength and opportunity. Never settle for what has already been done. Always look to what can still be improved.

“There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self” (Aldous Huxley).

When you are feeling beaten down by the world’s judgments or your own failures, remember to look at your life as an opportunity. Rewrite the negative narrative in your mind. God does not cause us to labor in vain. Through all things, we are given the opportunity to improve. Through all things, we are given the opportunity to be our best self.

Are you only seeing bad results for all of your efforts? Don’t be discouraged. Learn from each opportunity and keep pursuing, keep grinding. You can always improve yourself, even and especially in the moments of greatest failure. Never settle for failure. Keep learning. Keep improving. Keep working to be who God made you to be.

Go and do God’s work.
